Crazy Square

The "Crazy Square" is a sliding puzzle that consists of a frame of numbered square tiles in random order with one tile missing.

DESCRIPTION:

You will be given a sheet of 4x4 cells from which a tile will.

Your goal is to arrange the tiles in the correct numerical order.

Tap on any tile to move it into the empty space on the grid.

PURPOSE:

The aim of the game is to complete the entire table in order from number 1 to 15 in the shortest time possible and with as few moves as possible.

150 years ago, were offered cash rewards for anyone who could solve this Crazy Square.

THE STORY:

The puzzle was "invented" by Noyes Palmer Chapman, in New York, and it is said that it was, already in 1874, a precursor puzzle consisting of 16 numbered blocks that were put together in rows of four.

The "Mad Square" was improved in New York, Frank, son of Noyes, and from there, through various connections, Hartford (Connecticut), students in an American school have begun the production of the puzzle and, by December 1879 began to sell both locally and in Boston, Massachusetts.

Matthias Rice, who ran a timber trade in Boston, began producing the wooden puzzles, in December 1879 and has persuaded a dealer to sell them under the name of "Gem Puzzle".

In late January 1880, Dr. Charles Pevey, a dentist in Massachusetts has garnered some attention by offering a cash reward for anyone who would solve the Crazy Square.
